Alaina Kuisma, MS, LLPC, NCC

I take an existentially oriented and person-centered approach to therapy, with a strong emphasis on values, meaning, and personal responsibility. I believe each individual is a unique person shaped by their own lived experiences, perspectives, and relationships. In our work together, I help clients explore the deeper meaning behind their challenges—particularly those related to anxiety, addiction, identity, and relational patterns, while supporting freedom of choice and intentional change.

I believe life’s challenges rarely come with quick fixes. Growth and healing are complex, personal processes that take time, reflection, and a willingness to engage with difficult emotions. Rather than focusing solely on immediate solutions, therapy often involves exploring deeper questions of meaning, purpose, and choice. I aim to walk alongside clients as they face uncertainty, discover inner strengths, and gain clarity about what matters most to them, supporting lasting and meaningful change.

I often work best with clients who want to gain a deeper understanding of themselves and their relationships, particularly those seeking to reduce shame and live more in alignment with their values. Clients who appreciate a therapist who is warm, thoughtful, and direct—and who are open to both emotional exploration and personal responsibility—tend to find a good fit in my approach.
