Alaina Kuisma, Counseling Intern
I am a second-year master's student at Bellevue University. As an existentially oriented therapist with a person-centered approach, I aim to help clients explore the deeper meaning of their experiences and challenges while emphasizing personal freedom, meaning, and responsibility. I view each individual as a unique person with their own lived experiences and perspectives. I believe in fostering a warm, open space where individuals can confront life’s uncertainties, discover their inner strengths, and gain clarity about their values. By addressing issues like anxiety, depression, life transitions, or identity, I aim to walk alongside clients and support them as they find purpose and connection in their journey toward personal growth and well-being.
I believe that life’s challenges don’t come with quick fixes. Growth and healing are complex, personal journeys that require time, reflection, and a willingness to face difficult emotions. Instead of looking for immediate solutions, we will explore the deeper questions of meaning, purpose, and choice. This approach allows for a more authentic understanding of oneself, leading to lasting change and a richer, more fulfilling life.
In my free time, you can find me knitting, spending time with my husband and our boys, or going on runs around Ann Arbor.
